Business, the taking care of

Mission: Mission 2: Goodwill
Location: Eagle science lab
Timeline: current

Trent had just felt the weight of his new assignment. First contact with an alien race. Being the one to actually record such an event. The prospect of a little tête à tête with their scientists. This was the stuff he lived for. He entered his office and logged into his desk console. He pulled up first contact procedures first off. He scanned the inordinately long list of "whys and wherefores" and "Persuant to's"

"Luckily I had and instructor that made looking at paint dray a fun alternative." he thought to himself as he read, nodding as he did. He reached into is office furniture and grabbed a padd. "Better jot this down before I forget this." He highlighted important tidbits of info and saved them to his device. He gave it a quick read through, just to be on the safe side. He nodded.

"This should make the handiest of study guides before we meet our guests!" Trent exclaimed to no one in particular. He eagerly rubbed his hands together. "Now for my bread and butter" he enthusiastically thought to himself. He was now done with the wear and tear of refreshing his memory regarding contact regulations and what not. Now for the science,

He typed in a few commands and brought up all UE had on the species they were going to meet. Confidentially, Trent was hungry for more. That was natural for him, however. "Not much info." he sighed. "But that's what makes it fun! Isn't it?" he answered himself.

"That's what makes what fun, sir?" a science crewman asked from behind a piece of equipment.

Trent perked up to see a young man in his early twenties. "Ahh, youth." he thought to himself. He cleared his throat. "Why, our jobs of course!" he enthusiastically said. He loved his job and frankly didn't care who knew it. Johnathan Archer could walk in he'd say the same thing. "Discovery, crewman." he said. "Variety is the spice of life. It's our job to cook with that spice. To add it to existing recipies to unlock new flavors!"

The crewman nodded his agreement. "Never heard it described in that way before, sir. Makes more sense that way!"

"Doesn't it though?" Trent said. "If you cant make it into fun somehow, what's the point?" The crewman nodded. Trent smiled as he went back to his work, which consisted of gathering all his scanners to get them ready for "showtime". Satisfied, he put them in his locker, nodded to the crewman and made his way out, his mind wandering at the possibilities.
